Berkhamsted Speakers Club were privileged to host a fantastic workshop delivered by 3 times District 71 Competition winner and professional keynote speaker; Bob Ferguson!
Guests arrived from as far a field as Maidenhead to witness Bob inspire and motivate his audience on the key principles involved in preparing and delivering a Keynote Speech, to just about any audience you care to imagine!
His message was loud and clear:
Determine your speech objective
Decide on your key points
Use personal stories to illustrate each point
Make sure every word packs a good strong punch!
Finally, create a powerful opening and closing link
So there you have it , A Keynote Speech!
Easy isn't it? Well actually, Bob was quick to point out that collecting material for a keynote speech is an ongoing task and that to be a really effective keynote speaker it is best to have just 1 key signature speech in an area of your personal expertise.
Bob not only shared his knowledge and understanding around getting to grips with the building blocks and content creation of a 130 minute speech, but he also fully engaged his audience by actively encouraging them to construct a group keynote speech from a few chance comments written on a flip chart.
Well done to all those who participated in creating the group speech and well done to Bob for delivering a professional workshop which was insightful, informative and thoroughly enjoyable for all who attended.
This was one of the best evening Berkhamsted Speakers has had it was exceptional.A packed house many from far off clubs enjoyed the informal but tremendously absorbing workshop that Bob Ferguson gave us.We all learned a great deal from a great speaker, from a generous speaker, and we take away something that money cannot buy time, love, and experience overflowing in good measure. I'd like to quote soeemthing which I think sums up this splendid evening
"LEARNING IS A GREAT ACT OF COURAGE" R.Sharma. for me I wouldn't have missed this for the world.and to the team who help put this together heartfelt thanks!
